Sichuan Tourism University News Network （Correspondent:PanDong）A delegation led by Wang Xiwei, Representative of the China Office at the Institute of Tourism Studies (ITS), Malta, visited Sichuan Tourism University (SCTU). Li Xiang, Member of the Standing Committee of the university CPC Committee and Vice President of SCTU, received the guests and held a bilateral cooperation discussion.

Vice President Li Xiang extended a warm welcome to the Maltese delegation and gave a general introduction to SCTU. He pointed out that partnerships with world-leading tourism institutions are vital to advancing the university’s internationalization and cultivating high-caliber tourism professionals. He expressed hopes that this meeting would lay the groundwork for in-depth collaboration covering talent training, reciprocal staff and student mobility and joint program development.

Wang Xiwei thanked SCTU for its warm hospitality and outlined ITS’s core institutional features, academic offerings and proven track record in international cooperation. She stated that the two institutions boast matching strengths in tourism management, hospitality management and culinary arts, creating ample room for joint projects, and looked forward to future resource sharing and mutual learning based on complementary advantages.

During the discussion, both sides focused talks on joint education programmes and the feasibility of launching a Chinese Sichuan Cuisine Academy in Malta, conducting detailed exchanges on operational frameworks and curriculum planning. The two parties also exchanged views on signing a formal Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).

Both sides agreed to take this meeting as a starting point to accelerate the delivery of cooperative projects and build long-term sustainable partnerships for Sino-Maltese tourism education.

Representatives from the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange, the School of Tourism and Cultural Industries, the School of Culinary and Food Science Engineering and the School of Culinary Vocational Education attended the discussion.

Later during the visit, the delegation toured SCTU’s Culinary and Food Experimental Management Center.
