Sichuan Tourism University News Network（Correspondent: Feng Xia, Photographer: Zhu Fangting）Yang Jin, a professor and former ambassador-level permanent delegate of China to UNESCO, visited Sichuan Tourism University on June 11 for lectures and academic consultations, according to the university’s news service. The event, which was moderated by Li Xiang, a standing committee member of the university’s Party committee and vice president, drew participation from the heads of the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange and the School of Language, Culture and International Communication.

The event, which was moderated by Li Xiang, a standing committee member of the university’s Party committee and vice president, drew participation from the heads of the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange and the School of Language, Culture and International Communication.

Yang Jin delivered a lecture titled“Contemporary Youth International Competence from the Perspectives of Global Governance and International Organizations.”He opened by unpacking the core concepts of“governance”and“global governance,”then examined the current international landscape, in which globalization is being buffeted by unilateralism while the Global South is gaining momentum. He went on to outline China’s approach to global governance, which emphasizes sovereign equality and a commitment to multilateralism. Drawing on UNESCO and the UN World Tourism Organization as case studies, he elaborated on the competency framework for international organization professionals, centered on three pillars: efficiency, competence, and loyalty.

Yang Jin also held discussions with officials from the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange, the College of Culinary and Food Science Engineering, the College of Tourism and Cultural Industries, and the School of Language, Culture and International Communication, offering targeted advice on such matters as international collaboration in tourism studies, the branding of the“Sichuan Culinary College of China,”and the transformation and development of foreign language disciplines.

The event broadened the international perspective of faculty and students, while also helping the university clarify its approach to expanding its international presence and deepening cross-border academic engagement. The university said it would continue to invite experts and scholars from various fields to campus, with the aim of building a platform for international education that bridges theory and practice, and bringing cutting-edge ideas and hands-on experience into the classroom on an ongoing basis.

It was also learned that Yang Jin toured a number of teaching and practice facilities on campus, including the Culinary and Food Experimental Management Center and the Sichuan Provincial Demonstration Base for Industry-Education Integration in Digital and Intelligent Manufacturing of Culture and Tourism.
