Sichuan Tourism University, sponsored by the People's Government of Sichuan Province, stands as China's pioneering full-time undergraduate institution dedicated to "tourism." It is a key participant in the national "Applied Undergraduate Education Integration Development Project" for 100 universities and serves as a trailblazing institution for the comprehensive reform of "Three All-Round Education" in Sichuan Province. Furthermore, it holds the designation as a pilot institution for the overarching transformation and development reform of undergraduate colleges in the province. In 2018, the university gained approval from the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council to serve as the base for the "Overseas Chinese Project - Prosperity of Chinese Cuisine." Additionally, in September 2021, it earned a spot in the fifth batch of national intangible cultural heritage representative project protection units.
Situated at 459 Hongling Road, Longquanyi District, Chengdu, Sichuan Province, the main campus spans 672,000 square meters (approximately 1,008 acres). Uniquely, the campus seamlessly integrates iconic scenic spots such as Mount Emei, Qingcheng Mountain, Jiuzhaigou, Huanglong, Minshan, Minjiang, Leshan Giant Buddha, and Dujiangyan. Notably, the university boasts a national AAA-level tourist attraction – the Leisure Food Culture Park.
The university has established collaboration agreements with 30 universities in countries including the United Kingdom, France, the United States, Australia, Italy, and Georgia. Actively engaging with countries such as Singapore, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Australia, and the United States, the university participates in overseas internships and employment programs. Serving as an initiator and director unit of the "China-ASEAN Tourism Education Alliance," it actively contributes to ASEAN tourism education cooperation. Furthermore, the university is a participant in the European Union Erasmus+ Higher Education Capacity Building Project for sustainable tourism talent, standing out as one of only four domestic institutions in this initiative.
Sichuan Tourism University has forged stable partnerships with key entities, including the Sichuan Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, Sichuan Provincial Forestry and Grassland Bureau, Meishan City, Ziyang City, and various government departments, local authorities, associations, research institutes, universities, and enterprises. Actively participating in collaborative education and cultural tourism project construction, the university has significantly contributed to the development of 14 industry standards and provided over 20 consultancy suggestions for tourism, Sichuan cuisine, outdoor sports, and other industry development plans at both provincial and municipal levels. This collaborative approach has resulted in the establishment of a comprehensive and diversified mechanism through industry-education integration and cooperation with enterprises.

The School of Tourism and Cultural Industries, established in 2004, has evolved from the former Tourism Department. It encompasses three teaching and research offices: Tourism Management, Exhibition Economy and Management, Cultural Industry Management. Alongside administrative offices, student management studios, and the Tourism Industry Innovation and Practice Center. Our school is also home to the Sichuan-Tibet Tourism Industry Competitiveness Enhancement Collaborative Innovation Center, Sichuan 2011 Collaborative Innovation Center, and the Secretariat of the Sichuan Tourism Association.
In the past five years, we've secured two national-level projects, a provincial and ministerial-level teaching research and reform project, 14 provincial and ministerial-level discipline construction and teaching reform projects, the National Tourism Administration's "Ten Thousand Tourism Talents Plan Project," the Ministry of Culture and Tourism's support for university student team practice and the cultivation of "Double-Teacher" professional talents project (three for teachers, nine for students), 21 provincial and ministerial-level research projects, and more than 100 municipal-level research and teaching reform projects.
We maintain regular exchanges with institutions such as the China Tourism Academy, Sun Yat-sen University, Beijing Union University, Beijing Second Foreign Language University, Shanghai Normal University, Shanghai University of International Business and Economics, Tianjin University of Commerce, XiZang(Tibet) University, and Chongqing Jiaotong University.
We encourage faculty and students to actively engage in rural revitalization, tourism poverty alleviation, rural tourism, and research on characteristic tourism, providing information related to tourism construction, tourism project consultation, brand design, and other services to the government. Since 2015, the school has successively undertaken seven tourism poverty alleviation projects commissioned by the Sichuan Provincial Tourism Development Commission and has undertaken designated poverty alleviation work in two impoverished villages in Baima Town, Garzê County, and Yiri Village, Luohuo County.
