Cheng Li, Ph.D. Heisa professor at the School of Tourism at Sichuan University, serving as a doctoral supervisor. In 2020, he was selected as an academic and technical leader in Sichuan Province. Heis also the Vice President and Director of the Academic Committee of the Sichuan Tourism Association, Director of the Mountain Tourism Professional Committee of the Sichuan Tourism Association, and Editor-in-Chief of the English-language academic quarterly "International Journal of Tourism Anthropology". Additionally, he serves as the Vice Chairman of the Tourism Geography Professional Committee of the China Geographical Society and was recognized as one of the "Outstanding Contributors to Sichuan Tourism Innovation on the 40th Anniversary of Reform and Opening Up in Sichuan Province" in May 2019.

He has been a visiting scholar at the Department of Geography and Environmental Management at the University of Waterloo in Canada, a visiting professor at the Tourism Research Center of Purdue University in the United States, a visiting professor at the Department of Economics at the University of Barcelona in Spain, and an honorary visiting professor at the University of Uva Wellassa in Sri Lanka. He co-initiated the establishment of the China-Sri Lanka International Center for Interdisciplinary Culture Heritage & Tourism Research (China-Sri Lanka), serving as the director from the Chinese side.

Cheng Li has led four national natural science foundation projects, national social science foundation projects, and major projects at the provincial and ministerial levels, as well as six provincial, ministerial, and international projects. In recent years, he has published four monographs and translated one book. As of February 2024, he has published over a hundred academic papers both domestically and internationally. His representative papers have been published in renowned international journals such as Annals of Tourism Research, Tourism Management, Society & Natural Resources, Journal of Destination Marketing & Management, Current Issues in Tourism, Tourism Management Perspectives, Tourism Review, Land Use Policy, Asia Pacific Journal of Tourism Research, Journal of Tourism and Cultural Change, Journal of Vacation Marketing, as well as authoritative and important domestic journals such as Management World, Tourism Tribune, and Quantitative Economics and Technical Economics. His academic and teaching achievements have won the National Tourism Administration second prize once and the Sichuan Province third prizefortwice.
